Evander Holyfield is the keynote speaker at a banquet dinner honoring Team USA on Friday, May 30 at 6 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Prime ribs will be served.
Chattanoogans won’t have to take a trip to China to see USA Olympians in action. Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield comes to Chattanooga with Olympic Boxing at the end of this month to help raise money for YMCA Community Action Program (YCAP)—an early intervention/prevention program for at-risk youth—and Chattanooga Westside boxing club.
Holyfield is the keynote speaker at a banquet dinner honoring Team USA on Friday, May 30 at 6 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Team USA will face off against the National Team of the Dominican Republic in a dual meet at the Chattanooga Convention Center on Saturday, May 31 at 7:30 p.m.
Holyfield was an Olympic Bronze Medalist in the 1984 Olympics and went on to become the only heavyweight in boxing history to win the title four times. Fans attending the banquet with have an opportunity to meet both Holyfield and the USA Olympic Team.
The meet will feature two-time Olympian and reigning world champion Rau’shee Warren and USA National Champion Heavyweight Deontay Wilder form Tuscaloosa, Ala. There will be nine additional bouts featuring boxing athletes representing both the USA and the Dominican Republic in the Olympic Games this August in China.
Chattanooga has hosted several national amateur boxing championships in recent years but Team USA is making its first trip to the city.
Individual tickets for the banquet are $50 each; a table (seating eight) may be purchased for $400. A prime rib dinner will be served. General admission to the meet on Saturday is $12. Ringside seats are $20 and ringside tables (seating eight) are available for $300.

The YMCA Community Action Program and Chattanooga Westside serve young people in Chattanooga. They provide tutoring, mentoring, individual/family counseling and recreation activities.
